1959 LeMans winning DBR1.
Colored pencils on a very rough piece of watercolor paper that I found underneath stuff I hadn't moved in a long time.
This car was driven by Carol Shelby and Roy Salvadori.

I'm going to fave this ,yeah,uh,I know you have many subjects you would like to do. I'm back on the Ford GT history. You should do a picture of the 1963 Lola mark vi 6 GT ford or even the Chevy powered Lola. If it wasn't for the Lola, there might not have been a GT 40. Ford bought the jigs and blue prints and hired it's designer to be a consultant for the Ford racing program for about 2 years. This Aston Martin is a super collector's item, worth a whole lot of money, and it's part of automotive racing history. Great work as always.

Thank you.
If I don't see something, or want to try something, or think of a different way to present something I want to draw, I can't do it. Sometimes that means I wont draw anything for two months, and other times it means I do two drawings in one week. Thanks for noticing and thanks for the faves.

welcome, and don't panic or get sad about something that you can't draw on this particular moment, because you've got the skills trained years through out... it means that at this point things can get accomplished pretty fast and nice just the way you like it it's only a matter of thinking, amazing gallery! :) :) cheers!

Nice vintage car! Despie being 50 years old but the design looks very exotic, notably the streamline hull and sleek profile.

Thanks.
The scene in Bullitt, if viewed on the big screen, can actually make you a little queasy.

Oh, guess I really need a big screen to view that, but it dosen't matter... still, it's one of the very few excellent authentic car chase stunt ever, McQueen actually drove the car and speed up, as opposed to those fanciful but unreal CG effect like those in Fast and Furious...

Hi John, saw this car or it's sister at a classic meeting at Goodwood in England some time ago. Carol Shelby was a guest and I had a chat with him by the car in the paddock. That was a delight, a lovely car and lovely man, a real hero of mine. You've captured it perfectly. By the way I saw him and his team whip Ferrari at Le Mans and Spa with the stunning Daytona Cobras. Best sounding racers ever. All the best David Rory.

Thanks David.
I do believe the photo reference that I used was from the Goodwood Festival of Speed and the car as shown had some other stickers and decals that I chosen not to draw. I have to find a subject matter that I see something in that I can have some fun with or nothing happens for me. I have some ideas on how I am going to draw your Bristol and look forward to giving it a go. Very Cool about seeing Carol Shelby and the Cobra Daytona Coupes in their day.
Talk to you soon.
John
